AI Drawing Parser
Upload your project documentation and Deskely's AI extracts every tag, flags every conflict, and builds a completions-ready database — reviewed and approved by your engineers.
Engineer-reviewed output · No tag enters the system unapproved
Of tags present in the source documentation are found by the parser and surfaced for review.
Of extracted tags are correct as read, with every uncertain result flagged instead of guessed.
From first document upload to a reviewed, completions-ready tag register your team has approved.
The Problem
Before a single checksheet can be issued, someone has to build the tag register. On a large FPSO that can mean tens of thousands of tags spread across thousands of P&IDs, single line diagrams, instrument indexes, and vendor documents.
Done manually, this takes months of senior engineering time. And the result is never clean. The same tag appears in multiple documents with slightly different descriptions. Drawing references disagree. New revisions arrive mid-build and silently invalidate work already done.
Every error that survives this phase resurfaces later, where it costs far more: as a field punch, a certificate delay, or carry-over work at sail-away.
How It Works
Drop in your engineering drawings and project documentation. No pre-formatting, no templates to fill out first.
The parser reads every document and extracts each tag together with its description, drawing reference, and surrounding context. Tag formats are normalized automatically.
Where documents disagree, the parser flags the conflict and presents the competing values side by side with their source documents. The engineer selects the correct value in one click, and every decision is logged.
Everything the AI found is presented in a structured review screen. Nothing enters your database unseen. Your engineers confirm, correct, or reject each result.
What the Parser Catches
The same tag carrying different descriptions in different documents
The same tag referenced against conflicting drawing numbers
Duplicates hiding behind formatting differences (leading zeros, prefix variants)
Discrepancies introduced when a new drawing revision arrives
Near-matches: entries that are almost identical but differ in wording, which are exactly the ones a manual review misses
In real project documentation, the same tag routinely appears across many documents, and a meaningful share of those appearances disagree with each other. Finding these conflicts at the desk during setup costs minutes. Finding them during commissioning costs punches, retests, and schedule.
Engineers Stay in Control
The parser is built human-in-the-loop by design. It never writes to your live database on its own. Every tag, every description, and every conflict resolution passes through engineer review, and every accepted value carries full provenance back to the source document and the person who approved it.
The result is a register your commissioning team actually trusts, with an audit trail that stands up to operator and class scrutiny.
Built Into the Platform
The Drawing Parser is not a standalone extraction tool that exports a spreadsheet. Accepted tags flow directly into the rest of Deskely: checksheets are generated against them, ITRs are issued, punches attach to them, certificates roll up from them, and tag readiness becomes visible from day one.
One platform from the first drawing upload to mechanical completion and handover.

Validation
The parser is validated against a structured test protocol that includes negative controls, deliberately planted conflicts, and drawing revision scenarios, scoring 97% recall and 99% precision. It is engineered for the messy reality of project documentation, not just clean sample files.
Business Outcomes
The tag register stops being a months-long front-end activity and stops blocking everything downstream of it.
Senior commissioning engineers spend their hours on engineering decisions, not transcription.
Conflicts are resolved at setup with documents side by side, instead of being discovered during commissioning.
The data is clean, traceable, and audit-ready from the start, which is what the operator receives at the end.
