    The problem

    Every rack looks identical, until one of them is not commissioned.

    A hyperscale or colocation hall can carry thousands of rack positions, each with dual-feed power, busway taps, PDUs and structured cabling that must be checked and signed individually.

    A sampling approach to acceptance is the usual compromise, but it means the customer inherits unverified rack positions that surface as faults after go-live.

    Deskely templates the rack commissioning record once and applies it to every position, so acceptance reflects one hundred per cent verification rather than a sample.

    Setting up the register

    Suites, rows and rack positions structure the volume into something reportable.

    Busway runs, tap-off boxes, PDUs, remote power panels, rack positions and structured cabling are tagged and grouped by suite, row and rack, mirroring how the customer will actually take capacity.

    Rack elevations, power schedules and cabling matrices are parsed into the register, so the checkout list is generated from design data rather than typed from a spreadsheet.

    Roll-up per row and suite is what lets fit-out be released and accepted in stages that match the customer's occupancy plan.

    Power verification and cable testing recorded per rack, at volume.

    Short mobile forms per rack position capture busway tap installation, PDU commissioning, dual-feed continuity, RCD/earth fault testing and structured cabling verification.

    Photos and measured values — insulation resistance, voltage, polarity — are captured where they matter, so a rack cannot be marked complete without evidence.

    Punch is raised at the rack and grouped by row, so a fit-out crew clears defects in the order the customer will actually inspect them.

    Customer acceptance

    Acceptance is issued per suite, from records the customer can audit.

    Suite and row acceptance rolls up from rack-level records with prerequisites enforced, so a suite cannot be declared ready while rack positions beneath it carry open blocking punch.

    The rack-by-rack evidence pack is what most colocation and hyperscale customers now require as a condition of taking handover, rather than accepting a summary certificate.

    Residual punch stays live with an owner through the ramp of IT load, instead of being closed by declaration at handover.

    A loose busway connection is invisible until it's a fire

    Torque isn't a paperwork exercise, it's the difference between a tap-off box that runs cool for a decade and one that arcs under load.

    Busway tap-off connections are made by hand at thousands of points across a hall, and a connection torqued below specification doesn't fail at commissioning — it fails months later under sustained load as resistance heating slowly cooks the joint, by which point the rack it feeds may already be in production.

    Infrared thermal scanning under load is the check that actually catches this class of defect: a hot spot at a tap-off box or a busway joint shows up as a temperature differential long before it shows up as a tripped breaker, but only if the scan is done systematically across every connection rather than spot-checked where someone happens to look.

    Deskely records torque values at installation against the specific tap-off box tag, then holds thermal scan results from post-energisation inspection against the same tag, so a connection with a marginal torque reading and a rising thermal trend is flagged as a joint to re-torque before it becomes an outage.
