    Construction management and commissioning tracking sit at different levels of the same project. Forcing one to do the other's job is where the pain usually starts.

    Snag lists are not commissioning records

    A punch item raised against a location tells you something is wrong. A test record signed against a piece of equipment proves something was verified. Construction platforms are built for the first.

    Duplication is the real cost

    When both systems hold equipment lists, the registers drift. Decide up front which one is the master and make the other reference it.

    Closeout is a different deliverable

    Drawings, warranties and O&M manuals are document closeout. Signed test evidence per asset is commissioning closeout. Clients increasingly demand both, indexed separately.

    Neither certifies subsystems

    On an EPC or energy scope, completion is asserted by certificate per subsystem with enforced prerequisites. That is a third layer beneath both of these products.

      Write down your handover deliverable

      A turnover package of completed equipment tests is a different artefact from a certified subsystem dossier. The deliverable decides the category before any demo does.

      Test the gate, not the feature list

      Ask each product to issue a completion certificate with an unsigned test record and an open category A punch. If it allows it, gating is advisory.

    3. 03

      Run one real subsystem

      Load a genuine equipment or tag list, execute the records, raise punch and close it out. A trial on real data separates the shortlist faster than a feature grid.

      Check the field case

      Test the mobile experience where the work actually happens, including with the device offline, before signing anything.
