    Setting up the register

    Hull blocks, tanks and systems are separate structures with separate gates.

    Structural blocks, tank testing, piping systems, electrical distribution, machinery and outfitting each reach completion on their own path, and every system crosses several blocks before it is whole.

    General arrangements, system diagrams and equipment lists are parsed into a reviewed register, so every tank, valve and machine carries its drawing reference from day one.

    That structure is what makes it possible to close out a block and commission a system while the rest of the hull is still being outfitted.

    Execution

    Tank testing, cable pulling and hook-up each leave a signed record behind.

    Technicians work on board with a tablet: tank tightness and structural tests, cable pulling and termination, piping hydrotests and equipment hook-up captured where the work happens.

    Photos and readings are mandatory where they matter, which stops a compartment being marked complete on optimism ahead of a trial.

    Punch raised during any of these activities is categorised immediately as blocking or non-blocking for the next milestone.

    Trials and delivery

    Harbour trials, sea trials and delivery are signed against a defined record set, not negotiated on the quay.

    The harbour acceptance and sea trial certificates list exactly which records permitted them and which punch items were carried, with owners and dates against every one.

    That is what turns delivery into a documented event between yard, owner and class rather than a dispute settled in the final week.

    Carried punch stays live in the same register through the guarantee period until it is closed.

    Handover to the owner

    The vessel is delivered to a crew that will operate it for twenty-five years.

    The owner inherits the asset base along with manuals, spare parts references, test history and class correspondence. Assembled at the end, that pack is always incomplete.

    Because the dossier builds continuously, the as-built and class handover package per system is an export rather than a project of its own.

    Every signature keeps a name, role and timestamp, which is what makes the pack useful during the first class survey.

    Weight control and the inclining experiment

    The inclining experiment is one afternoon that either confirms eighteen months of weight control or exposes it.

    Every outfitting decision on a newbuild — a heavier paint spec, an owner-furnished item swapped late, cabling routed differently than the estimate assumed — moves the vessel's lightship weight and centre of gravity a little further from the number the naval architect used to close the stability book.

    By the time the inclining experiment is scheduled, class and the naval architect expect a weight report that reconciles actual installed weight against the estimate, item by item, not a spreadsheet reconstructed from purchase orders in the final week before the test.
