    The problem

    A pump station is small, but it fails alone at 3am, and a spreadsheet cannot show whether the standby pump has actually been proven to take over.

    A pump station combines civil wet well construction, mechanical pump and valve installation, electrical VSD and switchgear commissioning, and a telemetry outstation reporting back to a control room, often built by three separate contractors on overlapping schedules.

    Setting up the register

    Pumps, valves, instruments and standby power are tagged assets matched to the P&ID and control philosophy.

    P&IDs, control philosophy documents and electrical schematics are parsed into a reviewed register, so every pump, non-return valve, level sensor and the standby generator carries its duty description and its control logic reference from day one.

    Dry commissioning checklists, wet commissioning sequences and duty/standby changeover test templates are defined once per station type and instantiated across every pump station in a programme, so a hundred-station rollout does not mean redefining the test set a hundred times.

    Telemetry point lists and alarm configuration are held as their own record set, distinct from mechanical commissioning, because they gate the control room's separate SCADA integration acceptance.

    Execution

    Wet commissioning, duty/standby proving and telemetry testing are proven station by station before handover to unattended operation.

    Wet commissioning fills the wet well and proves pump start and stop levels, VSD pressure or flow control, and non-return valve operation under real hydraulic conditions rather than a dry simulation.

    Duty/standby changeover is functionally tested by forcing a duty pump fault and confirming the standby unit starts within the specified time, while high level alarms and standby generator changeover are proven with the same rigour.

    Vendor punch from the pump OEM, the electrical contractor and the telemetry integrator is logged at the specific pump or panel, so a rollout across dozens of stations is not blocked by one unrelated open item.
