Cable schedule template: free Excel cable schedule with installation status
Deskely Completions team Singapore
A cable schedule lists every cable on a project with where it runs from and to, its type and size, its length, glands and route. During construction it doubles as the tracker for which cables are pulled, glanded, terminated and tested.
This page gives you a free cable schedule template in Excel and PDF with installation status and live counts, and explains what each column is for.
- One line per cable, with a unique cable tag.
- From and to name the equipment tags, not just the rooms.
- Gland types matter in hazardous areas: record both ends.
- Track installation status on the same line: pulled, glanded, terminated, tested.
The columns
- Cable tag: unique, usually built from the cable type and a number (for example PC power, CC control, IC instrument).
- From and to: the equipment tag and location at each end.
- Cable type, voltage, cores and size: from the cable specification.
- Length: estimated for ordering, then measured when pulled.
- Glands: type and certification at each end.
- Route: the trays and ducts it runs through.
- Status: pulled, glanded, terminated and IR tested.
The template

Set each status column to Yes as the work is done, and the line at the top counts the cables pulled, glanded, terminated and tested. Insulation resistance results go on the megger test report; terminations are inspected with the electrical inspection checklist.
From schedule to register
On a large project, the cable schedule has tens of thousands of lines and lives alongside the single line diagrams, the instrument index and the loop drawings, all of which change.
Deskely Extract builds the tag register from the P&IDs and isometrics, and Deskely Core holds the inspections and tests against each tag, cables included, so installation status comes from the records instead of a separate tracker.
