Pipe fitting symbols on isometrics

Fittings change the direction, size or end of the line: elbows, tees, reducers, caps, blinds and branch outlets. On an isometric they are drawn simply, with a weld dot at each welded end.

SymbolIsometricWhat it is
ElbowAn elbow changes the direction of the line, usually by 90 or 45 degrees.
TeeA tee splits or joins the line with a branch at 90 degrees.
Concentric reducerA concentric reducer changes the pipe size with both ends on the same centre line.
Eccentric reducerAn eccentric reducer changes the pipe size with one side kept straight.
CapA cap closes the end of a pipe permanently.
Blind flangeA blind flange closes the end of a flanged line or nozzle.
Spectacle blindA spectacle blind is a plate with a solid disc and an open ring, joined like a figure 8, fitted between two flanges.
Branch outletA branch outlet, often called an olet, is a fitting welded onto the run pipe to take a smaller branch, instead of a tee.

Fittings

Elbows are drawn as sharp corners, not curves, unless the line is a bend with a special radius. The weld dots at each end show that the elbow is a separate fitting welded in.

Each fitting carries an item number that points to the bill of materials on the same sheet, where its size, rating, schedule and material are listed.
