Where you see it

Welds that must not stand proud: faying surfaces, fatigue-loaded details and surfaces that are painted or lined.

How it is inspected

Inspection of a flush contour usually covers visual inspection of the finished face, and a check that grinding has not undercut the parent metal. Each inspection is recorded against the weld, so the joint can be signed off with its evidence. See the ITR guide.
